A secure foundation for innovation
When Cathexis Technologies was founded in 1999, the team leveraged their expertise in data security, communications and electronic engineering to build on the digital imaging technology they developed in the mid-1990s. Cathexis built digital video recorders that took analogue inputs, laying the groundwork for CatSite, which supported linked servers. A management buy-out concluded in 2004 allowed Cathexis to focus solely on developing its own technology.
CathexisVision: A platform for a connected world
Cathexis supported IP cameras and encoders from the mid-2000s. By 2014, Cathexis had shifted its product offering from network video recorders to a distributed IP platform: CathexisVision. Rebranding to CathexisVision reinforced the move away from analogue video and marked the solution as a serious contender in the VMS marketplace.
